2008 Grady County Forestry Pageant Held

     

      On Saturday, January 5, 2008, seven lovely young ladies were crowned the 2008 Grady County Forestry Queens. 

      The evening began with the introduction of the 2007 Grady County Forestry Queens: Little Miss, Sydney Lee; Junior Miss, Megan Tharp; Teen Miss, Kayla Brewer; and Miss, April Hollingsworth.  The reigning Teen and Miss Grady County Forestry served as emcees for the evening.

     The first competition was for the title of Baby Miss Grady County Forestry.  Several Awards were given in the Baby Miss Division.  Each contestant received a stuffed bear, trophy, and crown. The runners-up in the Baby Miss division were Hadley Lynn Shiver, the 9 month old daughter of Brad and Heather Shiver, and Joni Lynn Green, the one year old daughter of Jonathan and Christy Green.    Joni Greene also received the People’s Choice Award which was voted on by the audience.  Bailey Rhea Franklin was named the 2008 Baby Miss Grady County Forestry Queen.  Bailey also won Photogenic, Prettiest Dress, and Prettiest Smile.  She is the 17 month old daughter of Tabb and Patti Franklin.

      Next came the Teeny Miss Competition.  These contestants also received a stuffed bear, trophy, and crown.  The runners-up in the Teeny Miss Division were Emma Elise Butler, the 3 year old daughter of Chad and Elisha Butler, and Emilee Marie Green, the 3 year old daughter of Jonathan and Christy Green.  Emma Butler was named the People’s Choice Winner.  Jennifer Nicole Johnson is the new Teeny Miss Grady County Forestry Queen.  Jennifer was also named the Photogenic, Prettiest Dress, and Prettiest Smile winner.  She is the 3 year old daughter of Jeremy and Sebrina Johnson.

     Sarah-Kaylee Wynn was crowned Tiny Miss Grady County Forestry.  She is the 6 year old daughter of Jamie and Melissa Wynn.  Sarah-Kaylee was also awarded Prettiest Smile, Prettiest Dress, and the Interview award.  The first runner-up and Photogenic winner was Ellaina Phillips, the 4 year old daughter of Eli and Brandi Phillips.  Aubri Kathryn Donalson, the 5 year old daughter of Brian and Amy Donalson, received runner-up, while the People’s Choice Award went to Mackenzie Pickle, the 5 year old daughter of Terry and Martiele Pickle.

      In the Little Miss division, Harley Bridget Shiver, the 6 year old daughter of John and Lesley Shiver, was named Little Miss Grady County Forestry. Harley also received the Photogenic Award, Prettiest Smile, Prettiest Dress, and Interview Award.  First runner-up went to Brook Johnson, the 7 year old daughter of Jeremy and Sebrina Johnson. 

     Sawyer Hall was crowned Junior Miss Grady County Forestry. She is the 9 year old daughter of Jennifer and Charles Hall.  Sawyer was also awarded Prettiest Dress, Interview, People’s Choice, and tied for Prettiest Smile with first runner-up, Ally Hollingsworth.  Ally, the 12 year old daughter of Paul and Lisa Hollingsworth, was also named the Photogenic winner.

     In the Teen Miss Division, the runners-up were Brooke Amber Kelley, the 14 year old daughter of Trent and Donna Kelley, and Megan Williams, the 16 year old daughter of Jeff and Sandi Williams.  Megan was also named the People's Choice winner.   The 2008 Teen Miss Grady County Forestry is Hannah Elizabeth Manry, the16 year old daughter of Paul and Pam Smith.  Hannah also received the Photogenic award, Interview and Speech awards, Prettiest Smile and Prettiest Dress.

      The pageant culminated with the crowning of the 2008 Miss Grady County Forestry Queen.   Jordan Lara King was named Miss Grady County Forestry.  The Prettiest Smile, Prettiest Dress, Speech, and Interview Awards also went to Jordie.  Jordie is the 17 year old daughter of Larry and Angela.

     Maegan Harrison, the 11 year old daughter of Stanley and Kristy Harrison won the Overall Talent Award.

      These queens will be representing Grady County at the Georgia Forestry Pageant in June and will be doing fund-raisers for their trip to the state pageant.

     Malia Phillips-Lee, the pageant director, would like to thank Randy Wind and the Cairo Messenger, Randy Kirksey and the Grady County Forestry Commission, Principal Demetrius Cox and Whigham School, Stan Mobley and StarLight Mobile DJs, Barefoot Photography of Cairo, and the sponsors, supporters, and families that made this pageant a success.  A special thank you also to the lovely young girls who participated in the pageant.  You are all winners.
